Mike Cooper - Dedicated to Edmonds

About Mike Cooper

Mayor Mike Cooper learned about leadership the old fashioned way. As he watched his father give selflessly to public service, he learned that to lead started with a value of hard work and keeping a people centered focus. At just 18, Mike joined the Edmonds Volunteer Fire Department.

Mayor Mike Cooper served on the Edmonds Planning and Park Board, developing the first comprehensive plan to help Edmonds comply with the growth management act and working on the city Park and open space plan.

As a decorated firefighter, husband, father, and grandfather; Mike has spent a lifetime giving back to the community by spending time as a Boy Scout leader and youth sports coach.  Today he is still the “Voice” of Edmonds Woodway High School wrestling.

As a respected state legislator, county council member, and Mayor; Mike Cooper has worked hard to protect the quality of life we enjoy; securing state funding for waterfront parks and Edmonds Center for the Arts.

While serving you in Olympia, Mike Cooper passed legislation making Puget Sound safe from oil spills and worked to make sure recreational trail funding was split equitably between motorized and non motorized users.

Mike Cooper stood up for you to keep Brightwater out of Edmonds; as a county councilmember and your Mayor, Mike Cooper continues  fighting to make sure Edmonds does not become a landing zone for commercial air carriers at Paine Field.

Mayor Cooper grew up in Edmonds, attending Edmonds High School and resides with his wife Chrystal in the historic home he grew up in.  Mayor Cooper and Chrystal have three married children and three grandchildren.
